Students Lead the Way in Helping To Address Bullying in Schools at City of Dublin ETB ‘Ag Fáil Réidh – Bí Cineálta’ Event

City of Dublin Education and Training Board (ETB) was proud to host the first ever ‘Ag Fáil Réidh – Bí Cineálta,’ (Getting Ready – Be Kind) event in Dublin’s Mansion House on January 14th. This student-led consultation event focused on tackling bullying and promoting kindness through the Department of Education’s Bí Cineálta (Be Kind) procedures.

The event brought together students and teachers from City of Dublin ETB Community National Schools and Community Colleges to engage in meaningful discussion about the challenges of bullying and the actionable steps that can be taken to address it in our schools.

‘Ag Fáil Réidh’ aims to empower students by equipping them with the skills to contribute meaningfully to the development and implementation of their own unique Bí Cineálta school policies.

This initiative reflects City of Dublin ETB’s unwavering commitment to creating educational settings where student voices are not only heard but are instrumental in shaping the future of kindness, respect, and safety within their learning communities.

“The Bí Cineálta procedures are about more than just anti-bullying policies,” said Dr Christy Duffy, Chief Executive, City of Dublin ETB, “They represent a movement towards cultivating kindness and respect at every level of student interaction. This consultation ensures that students themselves lead the way in creating lasting change.”

The event featured a keynote address by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain, whose presence highlighted the critical role this initiative plays in promoting inclusivity and respect across the city’s educational institutions.

“It is a privilege to support an event where students are empowered to lead change and create a culture of kindness. Their voices and experiences are vital in shaping schools where every learner feels safe, respected, and valued.”
