City of Dublin ETB Website Accessibility Statement 1.0

City of Dublin Education and Training Board (City of Dublin ETB) is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020.

1.1 Compliance Status 

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 due to the non-accessible content listed below.  

1.2 Non-accessible content 

We are working on a continuous basis to improve the level of compliance and to address the following issues: 

  • Some ARIA attributes need to be corrected. 
  • Colour Contrast: Some elements have insufficient colour contract for visually impaired users. We are working to improve the colour contrast ratio. 
  • Portable Document Format (PDF): Many documents are published in PDF format which are less accessible than HTML format or a Word document. We are working towards ensuring that our PDF documents are accessible or to provide an alternative. Some PDFs may:

    - be missing titles and alternative text
    - language for passages or phrases not specified
    - contain links, tables, and other elements that are not tagged
    - have incorrect list structures 

Some PDF documents on the site are owned by third parties and therefore we do not have control over same and so are exempted. 

This is not an exhaustive list of non-accessible content.  

 

1.3 Exempted Content 

PDF documents that were published before 23 September 2018 are exempt from these guidelines except where it is related to a service that a member of the public must use.  

Videos or audio published before 23 September 2020 are exempt from these guidelines.  

1.4 Preparation of this Accessibility Statement 

This statement was prepared following a review of a sample number of pages against relevant WCAG 2.1 AA Success Criteria. The review was carried out by way of a self-assessment by City of Dublin ETB in conjunction with our website provider.  

In preparation for this statement an evaluation of the website’s compliance with the requirements of directive (EU) 2016/2102 was carried out by way of an automated auditing tool (Axe Monitor from Deque) by the National Disability Authority to highlight accessibility issues through a Simplified Review of the website.  

The tools that were used to assess for accessibility include WAVE browser plugin, Microsoft Accessibility Checker, Adobe Acrobat Accessibility Checker.
